Background

TYPO3 is an open-source content management system (CMS) written in PHP. It provides a backend interface for managing website content and configurations. The TYPO3 Backend, a subcomponent of TYPO3, allows authorized users to access and modify the CMS settings. However, versions 4.0.13 and earlier, 4.1.x before 4.1.13, 4.2.x before 4.2.10, and 4.3.x before 4.3beta2 are vulnerable to a frame hijacking issue. This vulnerability enables remote authenticated users to insert arbitrary websites into TYPO3 backend framesets by exploiting crafted parameters.

Vulnerability Detail

The frame hijacking vulnerability in TYPO3 Backend allows attackers to manipulate the content displayed within the backend framesets. By crafting specific parameters, remote authenticated users can force the backend to load arbitrary websites, potentially leading to phishing attacks, data theft, or other malicious activities. This vulnerability poses a moderate risk to TYPO3 installations prior to the fixed versions.
