Background

sencisho is an npm package used for local development. It provides functionality for accessing the filesystem. However, versions of sencisho prior to 0.3.3 are vulnerable to a directory traversal issue. This vulnerability allows an attacker to gain unauthorized access to the filesystem by manipulating the URL and including "../" to traverse directories.

Vulnerability Detail

The directory traversal vulnerability in sencisho allows an attacker to bypass access restrictions and view sensitive files on the server. By including "../" in the URL, an attacker can navigate to directories outside of the intended scope and retrieve files that should not be accessible. For example, an attacker could request the following URL to retrieve the contents of the /etc/passwd file:

GET /../../../../../../../../../../etc/passwd HTTP/1.1
host: foo

This vulnerability poses a significant risk to the confidentiality and integrity of the system as sensitive information may be exposed.
