Background
The Jenkins GitLab Plugin is a Maven package that integrates Jenkins with GitLab, allowing users to trigger Jenkins jobs when changes are pushed to a GitLab repository. It provides functionality for managing GitLab webhooks, authentication, and project configuration. This plugin is widely used in software development workflows that utilize Jenkins and GitLab.
Vulnerability Detail
The Jenkins GitLab Plugin was found to have a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability. This vulnerability allowed users with Overall/Read access to Jenkins to connect to an attacker-specified URL using attacker-specified credentials IDs obtained through another method. By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker could capture credentials stored in Jenkins. Additionally, the form validation method used in the plugin did not require POST requests, making it susceptible to CSRF attacks.
