Background
The com.liferay.portal.kernel package is a core component of the Liferay Portal, a popular open-source platform for building web applications and managing content. This package provides essential functionalities for portal operations, including user management, content management, and system configuration. However, certain versions of this package are vulnerable to a security flaw that can be exploited by remote authenticated users, potentially leading to unauthorized data access.
Vulnerability Detail
The vulnerability exists in Liferay Portal versions 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.105, older unsupported versions, and Liferay DXP versions 2023.Q4.0, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.4, 7.4 GA through update 92, and 7.3 GA through update 35. It stems from improper handling of the remote address of the live site from the database, allowing attackers to exfiltrate data to a server they control by manipulating specific parameters. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must obtain the staging server's shared secret and add their server to the staging server's whitelist.

Conclusion
CVE-2025-43792 poses a significant risk to users of the Liferay Portal's com.liferay.portal.kernel package. It is crucial to update to the patched version to mitigate the risk of data exfiltration.
