Background
Parse Dashboard is a web-based interface for managing Parse Server applications. It provides developers with tools to visualize and manage their data, monitor application performance, and configure settings. The dashboard allows users to interact with various app features, but it has a critical vulnerability related to its agent endpoint that can expose sensitive operations to unauthorized users.
Vulnerability Detail
The vulnerability arises from the AI Agent API endpoint (POST /apps/:appId/agent) not enforcing proper authorization checks. This flaw allows authenticated users, who should be limited to specific applications, to access any app's agent endpoint by simply altering the app ID in the URL. Additionally, read-only users are incorrectly granted the full master key instead of a restricted read-only master key, enabling them to perform write and delete operations through the request body. This could lead to unauthorized data manipulation and potential data breaches.
How To Fix
Latest published version: 9.2.0 as of 23 Oct 2026
npm install parse-dashboard@9.2.0
Upgrading to it may include breaking changes; the version below is the minimum fixed release for this vulnerability.
If you need the minimum change
9.0.0-alpha.8
This is the first release that contains the fix.
npm install parse-dashboard@9.0.0-alpha.8

Workaround
As a temporary workaround, you can remove the 'agent' configuration block from your dashboard configuration. Dashboards without an 'agent' config are not affected by this vulnerability. Here is an example of how to remove the agent configuration:
const dashboard = new ParseDashboard({
apps: [
{
appId: 'YOUR_APP_ID',
masterKey: 'YOUR_MASTER_KEY',
serverURL: 'YOUR_SERVER_URL',
// Remove the agent configuration block
// agent: true,
},
],
});
Conclusion
The vulnerability identified as CVE-2026-27608 in Parse Dashboard poses a significant risk due to the lack of authorization checks on the agent endpoint. It is crucial for users to update to the patched version or implement the recommended workaround to safeguard their applications from unauthorized access and potential data manipulation.
