Background
The Bluetooth package in the Android ecosystem is responsible for handling Bluetooth functionality on Android devices. It provides APIs and services for Bluetooth communication, including the Service Discovery Protocol (SDP) which allows devices to discover and connect to each other. SDP_AddAttributeToRecord is a function within the Bluetooth package that adds an attribute to an SDP record. This vulnerability affects versions 11, 12, 12L, and 13 of the Bluetooth package.
Vulnerability Detail
The vulnerability exists in the SDP_AddAttributeToRecord function of the Bluetooth package. Due to an incorrect bounds check, an out of bounds write can occur, leading to a potential remote code execution. An attacker in close proximity to the affected device can exploit this vulnerability without requiring any additional execution privileges or user interaction. The impact of this vulnerability is critical as it can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the device.
