Background

ruby-sinatra is a Ruby library used for writing HTTP applications. It provides a domain-specific language for creating web applications in Ruby. The library allows developers to easily build web applications with minimal effort. However, a vulnerability has been discovered in versions 2.0 before 2.2.3 and 3.0 before 3.0.4 of ruby-sinatra. This vulnerability allows for a reflected file download (RFD) attack when the Content-Disposition header of a response is derived from user-supplied input.

Vulnerability Detail

The vulnerability in ruby-sinatra arises from the incorrect derivation of the Content-Disposition HTTP header from a potentially user-supplied filename. This can be exploited by an attacker to trick users into downloading malicious files, potentially leading to further compromise of their systems. The issue has been assigned CVE-2022-45442. The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.2.3 and 3.0.4 of ruby-sinatra.

How To Fix
