Background
POCO C++ Libraries is a set of open-source C++ class libraries that simplify and accelerate the development of network-centric, portable applications. It provides various modules for handling network protocols, file systems, and more. The library is widely used in the development of cross-platform applications.
Vulnerability Detail
The ZipCommon::isValidPath() function in POCO C++ Libraries before version 1.8 does not properly validate the filename value in the ZIP header. This allows an attacker to perform absolute path traversal attacks during ZIP decompression. By crafting a malicious ZIP file, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to create or overwrite arbitrary files on the system. This vulnerability is related to a file path injection vulnerability.
How To Fix
Minimum fixed version
1.3.6p1-4+deb7u1
This is the first release that contains the fix.
