Background
github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki is a Go package that is used for managing and validating RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) repositories. It provides functionality for handling certificates, ROAs (Route Origin Authorizations), and other RPKI-related operations. This package is vulnerable to an arbitrary filepath traversal vulnerability that can be exploited through URI injection.
Vulnerability Detail
The vulnerability in github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki allows an attacker to perform arbitrary filepath traversal by injecting a URI with a filename containing "..". This can be exploited by a malicious repository to create a file with a path that goes outside the base cache folder. For example, an attacker could create a file like rsync://example.org/repo/../../etc/cron.daily/evil.roa, which would then be written to disk outside the intended directory. This could potentially lead to remote code execution on the host machine where OctoRPKI is running.
How To Fix
Latest published version: v1.5.10 as of 23 Oct 2026
go get github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki@v1.5.10
Upgrading to it may include breaking changes; the version below is the minimum fixed release for this vulnerability.

FAQ
github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki is a Go package used for managing and validating RPKI repositories.
RPKI stands for Resource Public Key Infrastructure. It is a system used to secure the Internet's routing infrastructure by associating IP address blocks with their legitimate owners.
The vulnerability allows an attacker to inject a URI with a filename containing "..", which can lead to arbitrary filepath traversal. This can be exploited to create files outside the intended directory and potentially execute remote code on the host machine.
The vulnerability in github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the host machine where OctoRPKI is running. This can lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, and other malicious activities.
To fix this vulnerability, update to version 1.4.3 or later of github.com/cloudflare/cfrpki. This version includes a patch that prevents filepath traversal attacks.
