Background
Directus is an open-source headless CMS (Content Management System) that provides a user-friendly interface for managing content and data. It allows users to authenticate using OAuth2/OpenID providers such as Google. However, a vulnerability exists in the authentication API that can be exploited to perform URL redirection to an untrusted site.
Vulnerability Detail
The vulnerability arises from the redirect parameter in the authentication API, which can be abused as an open redirect vulnerability. When a user attempts to log in via the API URL, such as /auth/login/google?redirect, an attacker can manipulate the redirect parameter to redirect the user to a malicious site. Although the attacker cannot obtain the user's credentials, they can create a phishing site that mimics an error message, tricking the user into revealing their current password.
How To Fix

npm install directus@12.5.0
Upgrading to it may include breaking changes; the version below is the minimum fixed release for this vulnerability.
