Background
terriajs-server is an npm package that provides a server for TerriaJS, a geospatial data visualization platform. It allows users to create and share maps with various data sources. The terriajs-server proxy is used to access HTTP resources from whitelisted servers or domains. However, versions prior to 2.7.4 are vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF).
Vulnerability Detail
The Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in terriajs-server allows an attacker to make requests to internal resources or external servers that are accessible to the server hosting the terriajs-server proxy. This can occur if the attacker has access to a whitelisted server or if they can modify the DNS records of a whitelisted domain. By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker could potentially access private resources or perform actions on behalf of the server, leading to unauthorized access or data leakage.
How To Fix

FAQ
terriajs-server is an npm package that provides a server for TerriaJS, a geospatial data visualization platform.
Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) is a vulnerability that allows an attacker to make requests to internal resources or external servers that are accessible to the server hosting the vulnerable application.
An attacker can exploit this vulnerability if they have access to a server whitelisted by the terriajs-server proxy or if they can modify the DNS records of a domain whitelisted by the terriajs-server proxy. They can then use the terriajs-server proxy to access HTTP-accessible resources that are accessible to the server, including private resources in the hosting environment.
By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker could potentially access private resources or perform actions on behalf of the server, leading to unauthorized access or data leakage.
To fix this vulnerability, it is recommended to upgrade terriajs-server to version 2.7.4 or later.
