Background
silverstripe/framework is an open-source PHP framework used for building websites and web applications. It provides a range of features and functionalities to developers, including a reports CMS section. This vulnerability affects versions 3.1.19-rc1 to 3.1.20, 3.2.4-rc1 to 3.2.5, 3.3.2-rc1 to 3.3.3, and 3.4.0-rc1 to 3.4.1 of the framework. The vulnerability allows unauthorized users to view any report in the CMS section, bypassing the access control checks.
Vulnerability Detail
The SS_Report and reports CMS section in silverstripe/framework only checks the canView() function when listing the reports that can be viewed by the current user. However, it fails to perform canView checks when the report is actually viewed. This means that if an unauthorized user knows the URL to a report and can access the Reports section of the CMS, they can view any report, potentially exposing sensitive information.
